How To Keep Your Home Organised Over Christmas

Posted on Friday, December 11th, 2020

Christmas is a massive whirlwind of stress, which embodies itself into that mountain of presents that you’ve not wrapped and the pile of sprouts that you’re avoiding.

If you’re sick of the last-minute stress of the holidays, then you’ve come to the right place! We’re handing down our handy tips on how to keep yourself mellow over Christmas.

Plan Your Meals Ahead

Planning meals ahead of time can save you unnecessary stress and hours of fighting your way through hoards of people in the supermarket. We want to make this Christmas easy and stress-free, meaning that you need to create a fool-proof plan.

The week before the big day can become a mishmash of meals thrown together, including leftovers from that Christmas party a week ago! Writing down what you’re going to eat for the full week running up to Christmas will help you stay on track with meals and allow you time to collect everything you need for the big day.

Do Your Food Shop Online

Leaving your festive food shop until the last minute has become a tradition for many of us. The adrenaline rush you get from stealing the last turkey is unbeatable in our eyes.

But, not this year. This year, you’re going to be more organised and leave the rushing around for Easter. By doing your food shop online, you can keep a level head and know exactly what you need! It also allows you to do it any time of the day, freeing up some time for other mundane jobs like cleaning the house.

Have a Declutter

Decluttering before the big day is the perfect way to gear up for the festivities. This can seem like the most daunting task of them all, but it’s necessary; especially when your family is coming round for dinner!

To make this seem like a less intimidating task, we advise doing one room at a time each day. This way, you can avoid feeling overwhelmed and ditching the attempt entirely. Get the whole family involved by asking your kids to ditch a few untouched toys to make way for the new ones.

Buy Presents In November

Here comes our biggest organisation tip: Buy your presents in November! The earlier you buy them, the easier it is to spread the cost across a few months wages. It also allows you to think about what you want to get each person!

Some of you might think ‘November is too early!’. Well, the early bird catches the worm my friend, and to be truly organised this Christmas, planning ahead will lead you to your goal.
