Step into spring this year by giving your living room a fresh new look, read on to get the low-down on the interior must haves for March 2017:

Mirror magic

Maximise the light in your living room by putting up a statement mirror. There are lots of chic examples on the high street to fit all budgets and styles. Channel mid-century chic with a constellation or sunburst inspired example, such as Laura Ashley’s Constellation Champagne Mirror Large or look to Marks and Spencer’s Loft Oval Mirror, which has a hint of art deco about it. Alternatively, create a gallery effect by clustering a collection of small mirrors closely together, try Marks and Spencer’s Audrey mirror as a starting point or hunt around in your local charity shops for quirky treasures.

Statement chair

Add a statement chair to your living room as a stylish new focal point. Consider a design classic such as Arne Jacobsen’s Egg Chair in a bright sunshine yellow, for a comfortable but striking accent. Alternatively, inject a little humour with the Acrylic Grass Box Chair from Out There Interiors, which packs a powerful style punch, but with a very small footprint. If you have a dining area in your living room, consider updating your look with a Philippe Starck for Kartell Victoria Ghost Chair which comes in a range of colours to suit every interior

Picture perfect

Give your living room a makeover with some new artwork. For an injection of colour that will herald the arrival of spring, artist Matt Underwood’s woodblock prints of garden favourites including pansies and crocuses, are sure to fit the bill. Look to the oil paintings of Artist Fiona Sturrock, for joyful renditions of tulips and daffodils reminiscent of the Scottish colourists. Alternatively, visit your local auction room for a unique choice of fine art or riffle through your local charity shops and see what gems you can uncover.

Keynote rug

Ring the changes in your living room with a bright rug. Geometric patterns are a firm favourite this season, both Ebba and Zara have stylish examples in Sunshine yellow to evoke spring in your living room. Alternatively, look to Dunelm’s affordable ‘geometric rug’ which has garnered huge customer praise online. For a more high-end option try Dyson’s ‘walking on art’ range for added impact. These striking rugs will provide a bold keynote to any room.

Pottery

If you’ve been glued to The Great Pottery Throw Down in recent weeks, then invest in a piece from the home of the show – The Middleport Pottery.  Most famous as the home of Burleigh pottery, this working Victorian pottery is also home to a variety of artisan makers and much of the Poole Pottery range too. Alive with colour, this vibrant collection will add a breathtaking accent to any living room; try the ‘gemstone’ range to inject a little-added personality into your interior design this spring.
